When you apply

The USU College of Veterinary Medicine will not use the VMCAS application for our 2025 cycle. However, we encourage you to apply to other veterinary schools through VMCAS even if they are not your top choice, as this will help you be better prepared to apply to our program. There are several unique details to know about our 2025 application cycle:

  • Applications for 2025 admission will be submitted through the USU School of Graduate Studies (SGS) portal. This application is not currently available. The application resembles a VMCAS application, but it will look a little different.
  • The dates that our 2025 application and admission cycle open and close are contingent upon the CVM receiving the Letter of Reasonable Assurance. We anticipate that our portal will open in the spring of 2025, resulting in a short application cycle.
  • Applications will likely be accepted after April 15.
  • Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis; seats will be filled as applicants are deemed acceptable by our selection committees.  Be prepared to:
    • Submit your application through our USU SGS portal.
    • Submit your college/university transcript(s) at the time of application. An official transcript will be required before the fall semester starts.
    • Verify residency if a Utah resident at the time of application.
    • For information on the HPEP Nevada WICHE/USU College of Veterinary Medicine Stipend, please visit https://nvwiche.nevada.edu/hpep-usu-vet-stipend/.
    • Submit letters of reference (at least two; one from a veterinarian); inform your references in advance that they will need to submit letters through the USU SGS portal.
    • Document your experience, employment and extracurricular activities.
    • Submit an essay or multiple essays; our USU CVM-specific essay prompts may not resemble VMCAS essay prompts.
    • Apply without an interview; interviews will not be part of the 2025 application process.
    • Answer questions in Kira Talent’s platform as part of a Situational Judgment Assessment

Check this page often. Items will be updated when details are confirmed.
