Admission Requirements

Note that the USU CVM has not yet obtained a letter of reasonable assurance (LOR) through the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA COE), which is the first milestone in the multi-step accreditation process. Once the LOR is received, however, the USU CVM does not anticipate changes to these prerequisite requirements for the first application and admission cycle. Admission requirements for following cycles may be subject to change as the USU CVM continues to develop. We recommend checking our website regularly for updates.

Applications

The USU CVM is in the process of obtaining accreditation through the AVMA Council on Education (AVMA COE). The first milestone in this multistep process is receipt of a letter of reasonable assurance (LOR). Once an LOR is granted, the CVM anticipates launching an online application portal for its inaugural class.

Assessment

Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

The submission of GRE scores is not required for this application.

Situational Judgement Assessment

As part of the holistic evaluation process, a competency assessment such as CASPer may be used to evaluate an applicant's proficiency, understanding, and capability across various personal and professional metrics.

Grade Point Averages

Cumulative GPA: 2.9

GPA in prerequisite science and math courses: 3.1

During the fall and spring semesters of the application cycle, you should have no more than five math and science prerequisite courses still pending completion.

Applicants must meet minimum grade point average (GPA) requirements to enter the review process. Applicants who do not meet these requirements do not undergo further review. Applicants meeting the GPA requirements undergo a multistep process that is designed to filter and rank applicants for final review and selection by the selection committees.
