The Utah State University (USU) Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree program applies an integrated, competency-based approach to train day-one-ready veterinarians in mixed-animal medicine for urban and rural communities across Utah and the Intermountain West.
The DVM curriculum aligns with the needs of stakeholders and competencies defined by the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges.
Courses are designed in a two-phase approach that promotes an understanding of health and disease across multiple species and allows students to focus on developing individual expertise in self-selected disciplines.
The fourth-year clinical curriculum is a distributed model of rotations in college-approved, private practice, regulatory and industry settings under trained preceptors and faculty oversight. All clinical instruction is delivered in person.
