Welcome to the College of Veterinary Medicine
We are excited to welcome you to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Program at Utah State University! You are joining a vibrant community of passionate students, supportive faculty, and dedicated professionals all working toward the shared goal of improving animal and community health.
As a member of the inaugural class at USU, you hold a special place in the history of this program. You are trailblazers. You are helping shape the culture, traditions, and future of veterinary education at our university. Your feedback, experiences, and leadership will leave a legacy for the classes that follow.
As you begin this new chapter, you will gain the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to become a competent day-one-ready veterinarian. Along the way, you’ll build meaningful connections, grow as a professional, and contribute to something bigger than yourself.
The following incoming student resources offer a starting point for understanding key resources, general expectations, and helpful tips to support your transition into the program. Throughout the summer, we will continue to provide you with additional policies and procedures regarding your onboarding. One of those resources will include a required interactive online training through the USU LearnBlue system. Be sure to stay connected and ask questions as they arise. Our student services team, faculty, and staff are all here to support you every step of the way.
We are glad you have chosen to be a part of the USU College of Veterinary Medicine and look forward to watching you grow as part of the broader veterinary community.

Learn Blue Learning & Compliance
Learn Blue is Utah State University’s institutional learning management system (LMS). It is a centralized training hub that facilitates managing compliance, onboarding, professional development, and reporting for both individuals and teams. The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is the first academic unit at USU to implement Learn Blue features for students, leveraging the platform not just for employees, but to support student onboarding, policy attestations, and other learning requirements.
Students are assigned yearly Learn Blue modules to reinforce understanding of important College and University policies. Completion of these modules includes an attestation of the student’s willingness to comply with these policies and acknowledgment of their responsibility to report concerns or violations as outlined in the reporting procedures.
Students must complete all assigned Learn Blue modules and related attestations within the designated timeframe. Failure to do so will result in a hold being placed on the student’s account, preventing registration for the following semester until the training is completed.
