Overview
The USU School of Graduate Studies application portal allows prospective students to apply online to the USU DVM degree program for the 2025 application and admission cycle. Please note: Applications for ONLY the 2025 application/admission cycle will be submitted through the USU School of Graduate Studies portal. Applications for admission cycles beyond 2025 will be submitted through the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS).
Things to Know – School of Graduate Studies Application (DVM Program-Specific)

- Complete/Upload Supplemental Items:
- Upload unofficial college/university transcripts from every institution where courses were taken for credit
- Provide the contact information of individuals writing your letters of recommendation
- If claiming Utah residency, upload specific documentation to prove Utah residency for tuition purposes
- Answer supplemental DVM questions; answering these questions is optional, but note that submission of this specific form is required
- Application can be saved at any time; make sure to click “Save Application” at the bottom of the page often and before exiting
How to Access the Application
Apply online via the USU School of Graduate Studies portal. If you don’t already have a “Future Aggie Login” account, click on Create Account, then fill out the information to follow
When creating your account:
- Please provide the most accurate and up-to-date information!
- In the Academic Information section:
- Select “Graduate Student” under “I plan to enter USU as a: *”
- Select “Fall 2025” under “Select your intended start term: *”
- Select “Veterinary Medicine DVM” under “Select your general academic area of interest: *”
- Select “Logan (Main Campus)” under “Select the campus/center you plan to attend: *” (The DVM program is only offered on main campus)
How to Start the Application
In your account, select “Create a New Application” then click on “New Graduate Application”; the information you filled in previously when creating your account should populate. Once you click “Next”, you will be directed to the application.
Completing the Initial Application
The initial application is comprised of the following sections:

- Here, you will input your major and any emphases.
- Degree Date (mm/dd/yyyy) and Degree Type
- You will be prompted to enter a Degree Date and Degree Type for each institution that you’ve attended (i.e., every college/university where you have taken courses for credit).
- If you do not yet hold a degree but are currently pursuing a degree at a given institution, input the applicable degree type and the date on which you anticipate earning that degree.
- For any other scenario where an institution is listed but a degree was not/will not be earned, enter an arbitrary date (e.g., 1/1/1900) in the Degree Date section and select “Other” for Degree Type.
- You will be prompted to enter a Degree Date and Degree Type for each institution that you’ve attended (i.e., every college/university where you have taken courses for credit).
- Program of Study
- This application will prompt you to list your prerequisite science and math coursework. Note: When entering your prerequisite coursework, you will be able to list all courses, including separate lab courses (if applicable), that directly fulfill the subject and hours required for the prerequisite. Please only enter applicable courses.
- If you repeated any prerequisite course, please provide the highest grade only.

When providing your contact information, please make sure to provide a phone number and email address that you are actively using to avoid missing important information.

Residency
Note for applicants claiming Utah residency: You will be prompted to upload supporting documentation for residency tuition purposes in the Supplemental Items & Documents tab after you submit the initial application and pay the application fee.
Submit
- Experiences
- Here, you will list any Animal, Employment, Extracurricular Activities, Research, Veterinary, and/or Volunteer experience that you have acquired.
- Achievements
- Here, you will list your most prestigious and relevant Awards, Distinctions, and Scholarships.
- Certify, sign, and date.
Completing Your Submission
After submitting the initial application, your application is still not complete. To finalize your submission, the application fee must be paid, supplemental items must be completed/uploaded, and you must complete the Kira Talent assessment.
Supplemental Items & Documents
- Wait about 15-30 minutes after submitting initial application.
- Go to Supplemental Items & Documents tab to view more application items.
- Transcripts – Transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended are required. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for application submission. You will be asked to submit the unofficial copies in the Supplemental Items & Documents tab after you submit the initial application. If conditionally accepted, official transcripts must be received by the USU School of Graduate Studies no later than August 1, 2025. - International applicants and applicants who have attended an institution internationally: Gathering and/or providing the documents referenced below may delay your application. Applications for our anticipated first admissions cycle will be reviewed on a rolling basis; seats will be filled as soon as applicants are deemed acceptable by our selection committee.
- If you are an international applicant or have attended an institution internationally, in lieu of unofficial transcripts, please upload a course-by-course WES Foreign Credential Evaluation as a supplemental item.
- For international applicants, the School of Graduate Studies requires uploading/providing proof of English Language Proficiency as a supplemental item. To learn how to meet this requirement, please visit the Admissions Policies webpage.
- Anybody who has attended an international institution: If you are conditionally accepted, you will have another official course-by-course WES Foreign Credential Evaluation sent either via email to graduateadmissions@usu.edu or via mail to:

- International applicants and applicants who have attended an institution internationally: Gathering and/or providing the documents referenced below may delay your application. Applications for our anticipated first admissions cycle will be reviewed on a rolling basis; seats will be filled as soon as applicants are deemed acceptable by our selection committee.
- Letters of Recommendation – Two letters of recommendation are required. Only two will be accepted. One must be from a veterinarian, and one from a college teaching faculty member, teaching assistant or academic advisor, or from a professional mentor. You will be asked to submit reference information in the Supplemental Items & Documents tab after you submit the initial application.
- If claiming Utah residency, upload specific documentation to prove Utah residency for tuition purposes.
- If you are unable to provide a certain piece of requested residency documentation, you may upload a statement in lieu of the documentation requested explaining why you aren’t providing or can’t provide said piece of documentation. This statement must be signed and dated by you, the applicant. Please note that a statement does not guarantee that the requirement will be waived.
- Answer supplemental DVM questions; answering these questions is optional, but note that submission of this specific form is required.
- Transcripts – Transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended are required. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for application submission. Complete the Kira Talent assessment to finalize your application. The Kira Talent invitation will be sent to you in a separate email.
